Croithlí Distillery’s world-first PX Single Cask premium Irish whiskey is selling out fast on our brand-new e-commerce website.
The PX Single Cask is a landmark expression for Irish whiskey, distilled using the traditional and now very rare method of direct fire (as opposed to steam) in Cognac Charentais stills. It has been fully maturated in a 500-litre Spanish oak butt (from the famous Juan Pino Cooperage, Córdoba) that’s been seasoned for 24 months with rich Pedro Ximénez sherry. The result is a world first whiskey of remarkable depth and character, balancing bold dark fruit notes with warming spice and the distinctive richness that comes only from Croithlí’s unique distillation process.
The PX Single Cask, which will be bottled in November, is available to pre-order now through the new Croithlí website. And with around half of the 698 bottles sold already, it’s expected to sell out well before its release date.
Conor McMenamin, co-founder and director of Croithlí Distillery, said: “We founded this distillery to revive Donegal’s rich whiskey-making heritage for the first time in 180 years, and the PX Single Cask is testament to how far we’ve come. To unveil a world-first expression is a proud moment for the distillery, the Gaeltacht region and our county.
“It has only been available to pre-order on our new website for a couple of weeks, and already we’re down to the last 300 bottles. This is a very special, limited-edition, direct-fire distilled whiskey that is simply beautiful — but once it’s gone, it’s gone.”
